| Techniques of.... | Inspired By.... |

Designed to appeal to the beginner as well as the more advanced embroiderer, the "Techniques Of...." series has been created to provide basic instruction on seldom taught ethnic techniques. The featured project found in the "technique" leaflet is designed to provide experience with the technique.

Each "technique" leaflet includes information on: the historical and cultural background of the technique; identifying characteristics; close-ups or illustrations of the basic stitches; a discussion of the fibers, fabrics and tools recommended; illustrations on starting and ending threads; and a complete bibliography of the research materials used. The leaflet was created to serve as a reference for later projects.

In contrast, the "Inspired By...." series assumes the embroiderer is familiar with the technique, and provides instructions only on the specific project shown. No general or background information is provided.
